SCS Song s - So, you thought there was only one?
The First... "S. H. S. Song," by Bernice Gardner, Class of 1908:
"In the State that leads the Union.
In the county of Steuben,
Sheltered by the grand old hillsides.
Near the broad Conhocton river,
Proudly stands our dear old High School.
In the summer and the winter;
Where we gather in the morning,
Spending hours of gain and pleasure.
Hail to the High School of Savona
In the county of Steuben.
There we first commence our journey
On the road that leads to knowledge;
Knowing little of the problems
That will face us there each day.
By the teachers' careful guidance
All the trials are overcome;
And we pass to greater victories
With the setting of each sun.
Hail to the High School of Savona
In the county of Steuben.
When we reach our freshman year
With its customs strange and queer,
How we wonder if we'll ever
Learn to do as others do;
But we soon become the master
Of ever trick that comes to view.
And before we hardly know it,
High school days for us are over.
Hail to the High School of Savona
In the county of Steuben.
When we leave the dear old High School,
With its memories dear and tender,
We will cherish every token
Of the days which we remember.
And when twilight shadows deepen
We'll recall the days with gladness
That were spent in gaining knowledge
And were frought with little sadness.
Hail to the High School of Savona
In the county of Steuben."
Bernice's "S. H. S. Song" was graciously rediscovered
and shared by Sue Caward '57

And later, the Savona Central School Alma Mater (author unknown):
"'Mid green fields and meadows
'neath sunshine and shadows,
Our High School stands to which we all are true.
A grand stately building
With broad lawns surrounding,
And overall a vault of heaven's blue.
Dear old Savona,
Pride of her many valiant sons.
When out on life's ocean, with hearts of devotion,
We'll think of thee and of our victories won."
